1. So, obviously (duh) I finally got myself an LJ! I suppose this should have been the first post, but, well, such is life.
As with many new creative endeavors, this was spurred by a topic over at Librivox, where I find myself spending the bulk of my online time these days. There's a thread where people are talking about the books they're reading - many of them have the goal of a book-a-week, though I'm more realistic than that. I decided to post a review about the one book I've actually read this year (see first post). I've written reviews of books, movies, etc occasionally over the past many years, and I've generally enjoyed it. So I decided it would be nice to have a space where I could post such things.. a blog was the obvious choice, and I know a number of people were on LJ. So, here I am. I don't expect to update terribly often, but who knows.

1a. I *think* I've decided on a theme to stick with. Though I might try playing with the customizable options of the purple-flavored Dear Diary.. template. I never thought it would be possible, but there's just... too... much... purple...

1b. I got around to uploading a userpic last night! The default pic (which is all there'll be for a little while) is a photo of our cat Tazz, and it's a photo that I think of as his magazine cover shot. :)

2. My husband and I are going to Macworld today!!!! Mmmm... Lickable phones to go see!

3. We've decided. We're going to purchase a Wii. (When they become available, that is - hopefully before a certain husband's birthday in mid-February!) That means... that we actually have to break down and BUY A TELEVISION. We haven't owned one, ever, in our 10+ years of marriage. The huz has been doing research into LCD HDTVs: after all, if you're gonna get one, might as well do it right. We have a pretty tiny house, so it'll be a table-size model, and Costco has both a 20" and a 23" on serious sale. We stopped by Best Buy last night to check out sizes, and decided that the 23" is definitely worth the extra $100 or so. The 20" just feels a little too much like a computer monitor, and that you have to sit sort of close to get the full effect. So we'll be off to Costco this very weekend!!!
