[Poll #1465022](Normally, we'd have a big family luncheon/dinner with Huz's brother's family, including our small but exceedingly active niece and nephew.  But we just had a big family get-together last week, and Huz's parents are doing a lot of cooking for guests in the past month, and thought it would be nice to have a quiet and civilized dinner out.  I'm not objecting!)

My answer might be affected by a) knowing the relative quality of the restaurants and b) knowing what exactly variable cuisine is.

That being said, both (a) and (c) are very tempting. It would depend on which type of food I had been to least recently.

Having not tried Turkish food ever, I'd be inclined to go to New Kapadokia, on the theory that eating should always be a delightful adventure.

On the other hand, Birthdays should be about really enjoying yourself, so you might not want to try someplace untested. In that case, California Cafe is a good, solid, always tasty choice.

I'd also like to recommend my favorite place for a birthday meal, Zibibbo, in Palo Alto. They have awesome food, and you must get the warm chocolate cake for dessert.

So, I've been to all three places that are on the poll. They're all tasty. You'd probably need to be a little careful at the Turkish place to avoid red peppers/spices. It's kind of like Greek, but with a different balance of spices. Very yummy! :)

I'd forgotten about Zibibbo. I've been there a couple of times. You're right that the food is really good. :) The times I've been we've had (generally) American/generic dinner food, albeit really really tasty.

At the risk of sounding like Proselytizing Veglegon--have you ever been to Millennium in San Francisco? Really awesomely good food, and you'll probably end up trying something new.

Neither, in ages.

Happily, everything listed here has their menus online, so I can decide based on what I feel like most. Having gazed at (b) and (c) menus, (c) looks best at the moment. :)

Ooo, that looks good...

The unfortunate thing about going to a vegetarian restaurant is that Huz has distinct antipathy towards a lot of vegetable matter! It's not impossible, mind you, just a bit difficult.

OK, well I went back and voted for (a) in the poll, just to be perverse! No really, (a) is what I'm craving right now, but it's your birthday and they all sound good, so you should go for (c). Or whatever sounds best when you have to actually make the final decision. :)
