Blergh, part 2
Jan. 28th, 2009 05:00 pmI slept better than I expected last night (read=much better than none at all), but have been home sick all day. It was funny; I woke up several times last night, due to e.g. mouth being completely parched from mouth-breathing, and every time I woke up I could feel the stimulant effect of the Sudafed 12-hour stuff - but fatigue, happily, won out every time. It took me a bit longer to get back to sleep the final time (and, interestingly, I slept less solidly) when the cold decided to move from Totally Stuffy Dry Nose to Very Drippy Nose.
Anyway, it was a really good thing I didn't go to work. I had a nice semiconscious sitting-upright-while-listening-to-Librivox-submissions period of about 45 minutes this morning, and I just got woken up out of another nap. Variously miserable with itchy eyes, nose, sneezing etc, and kinda sorta okay, enough to do Mario Kart for an hour, catalog a Librivox project, and even take a 15-minute walk in the sunshine in the middle of the day. There's no way I could have gotten much done at work, and I would have given this cold to my work buddies. (If I didn't already yesterday.)
Huz is coming home soon! And he's buying me English muffins, which are (is?) one of my "I have a nasty cold" comfort foods. He was well enough to go to work, but is leaving an hour earlier than usual, for which I do not blame him.
Meh. I'll get better, I will.
Fluffy is also doing rather better. He saw the vet Monday, who found he had a fever and that the upper part of his favored leg was warm - consistent with a puncture wound, but no wound found. Wonder if he got a spider bite or something. He's been on pain medicine since, and is starting to put some weight on that foot. So yay Fluffy.

Date: 2009-01-29 09:20 pm (UTC)A few years ago Fydo was limping so I took him to the vet. She figured it was a bite from another cat (Noche was still around) and did find one puncture. She explained that cat bites usually have one on each side (top and bottom) and took the 'Do in back to clean the wound. Shortly after, a little procession came back - someone opening doors, someone holding the struggling cat facing away at armslength and finally the vet. She showed me her freely bleeding pinky. "See, this is what most cat bites look like. He'll be fine, just freaked out when we turned on the trimmer. I'm going to get this cleaned up now."
