I've been happily busy ever since I got back from Boston last week.  It started out with a trip up to Berkeley to make another attempt at getting data off the latest sequencing batch - this time, it worked, so yay.  Then yesterday as an early birthday celebration for me we had a fabulous time at the California Academy of Sciences with orichalcum, cerebralpaladin, nezumiko, and KB.  Ori and CP were attached to children who wanted to go faster than the rest of us, so we didn't end up seeing them for very long, but it was still neat to see them.  The museum was very cool, particularly the planetarium, which is a modern one and thus much much more in the style of the big curved-screen Omnimax theaters than traditional sky-in-the-round like Boston's Museum of Science has.  The show was one of the best Planetarium shows I've ever seen - full of real science about stars in general and the sun in particular, not just a "Hey!  Stars are cool!  Get excited now!" show.  (It was free, to boot - another rarity in science museum shows.)  Huz and I had dinner at a nearby Thai restaurant with KB, then drove home.  A nice day.  If you're in the city and have the time and dollars to spare, definitely visit, and definitely go to the planetarium.

What I do object to is that I have most definitely caught a cold.  *sigh*  If you put me in a place where lots of little disease vectors - I mean children - hang out, I suppose I tend to catch something.  Hopefully it will progress rapidly and be over soon.
