• Our hand-me-down first-generation iRobot Moe died this weekend.  He is still very happy to roll around bumping into things, but he's... quieter.  After too many hours of activity from a single battery charge, there was nothing in the waste bin.  I don't know whether the beater brush mechanism has failed due to the crazy amount of previous-owner hair that has, over the years, entered the works and wound itself round and round and round some axle that one can barely see, or whether the vacuum has run out of suck, but Moe no longer works.  So I've got a Roomba 562 on order - it shipped from Kentucky this morning.  Yay!  Just in time for mounds of cat hair to appear with the warm weather.

[livejournal.com profile] orichalcum  has a soda water maker.  I go through tons of seltzer regularly - on a hot summer weekend, I can easily go through a couple of 1.25 liter bottles of the stuff.  I plan to purchase one for myself sometime this week.

• Time to buy plane tickets to visit Boston and New York in June.  Need to do that later this week.

In other news... Huz gave a presentation on software he's been developing at work earlier this week.  He told me he was giving this presentation late last week.  I asked him if there were any bunnies in it - and he put some in!  (OpenMM version 3.0 will have twice as many bunnies as the previous version.)  Isn't he keen?

Finally, two bits from Penny Arcade: what you fear might happen to your under-6 tot when he plays with a 3DS, and a blog entry about the DS/3DS and its effect on Tycho's son.  Me, every time something falls over or moves apparently under its own power, I figure some ghost is trying to accomplish something - heavens knows what in most cases.

Ooh. I should probably be asking Ori this as well as you, but what do you think of the soda-water maker? I go through buckets of seltzer, and it's more expensive here than in the US, so I've been considering getting a seltzer-maker myself. Any tips or recommendations?

I haven't got it yet, but I've seen Ori use hers (and enjoyed the seltzer therefrom). It seems pretty neat.. She's got one of the Sodastream models; a friend of a friend also really likes her Sodastream.

I was about to ask the same thing. Thanks! We go through seltzer very quickly at my house in the summer and whenever [livejournal.com profile] r_ness is around, so having a seltzer maker would be really nice.

I'll let you know when I acquire one, probably later this weekend!
