Hello, sewing Interwebs!

So I'm making this top thing (the V-neck with sleeves).

I spent this afternoon getting the neck interfacing sewed in, which mostly worked kinda OK.  The thing that I found most aggravating is that I only have a flat ironing board, and I'm supposed to press this very shaped surface, and it just doesn't work out very well.

Is it actually possible to iron these sorts of things without a sleeve board or sewing ham?  Does the addition of a ham make your ironing life so much easier that I should just go ahead and buy one?

Thanks in advance.  Learning a ton here.... like that I need EVEN MORE SUPPLIES....

Does your flat ironing board have a sort of curved, narrow corner at one end? Err, that made no sense. Like... this? (View from above) If so, you can try to curve the fabric around the corner and use that to iron, but honestly a ham would probably make your life much easier if you're planning on ironing anything like necklines or sleeves on anything like a regular basis. My friend with the mad tailoring skills LOVES his sewing ham.

And yes, I had to laugh a little at the last sentence... sewing is definitely an activity that requires a lot in the way of supplies, I'm afraid!

Thanks!

Next q: do I order one now with Amazon Prime? or do I make ABSOLUTELY SURE I get to JoAnn's in the next few days (Firefly Days sale! Nummy 50% coupons!) and hope to heck they have some in stock? I don't remember _seeing_ any at JoAnns last time I was there, but then again I wasn't exactly looking....

I may go ahead and order one which will basically ENSURE that I have it by this weekend, and hang the 50% off.

Also... Seam roll or sleeve board? (All the sleeve board reviews I've seen say they break easily, so I'm leaning towards a roll. Also, one site says just use a rolled-up towel.) Thoughts?

Second the ham. It's inexpensive, versatile, and easy to store.

Good luck!
