Regarding both the fevers and the throat pain: taking ibuprofen doses regularly according to package directions, and not stopping until you know you're less sick and you don't think the symptoms will return, has an additive effect and can be more effective than starting and stopping every time the fever or pain gets worse again. I find it hard to do this, because I'm so trained to take as little as is effective for a headache or cramps, but consistent dosing over a few days can be really helpful for fevers and aches from flu and cold. If you're concerned it will start to irritate your stomach, having a little snack with your ibuprofen is a good policy. It would not be wrong to treat your ongoing sore throat in this manner. (I mean, unless you've got some sensitivity to the drug that I don't know about.)
