Um, wait, cancelled??!?

*sigh*

This will be the THIRD time I have had to go through ticket searches for this trip back home for Thanksgiving.  I suppose there's problems with getting one's flights in advance, but really, this is ridiculous!

*senses another several hairs turning gray*

In the morning.  I will deal with it in the morning.

I just saw a figure that 1/3rd of all American (country, not airline) flights are delayed or cancelled, and three quarters of those problems originate in the New York area. :/

This one wasn't even going through/to New York! Bleah.

For what it is worth, I've found lately that things work better when I book directly with the airlines, and put myself on their appropriate email alert list. That being said, getting your flight canceled sucks big time.

Usually I do too; it was just easier to go through Expedia at the time.

So our flights were thus: a redeye direct from San Jose to Boston on American to get out, and a 1-connection back on United. All that happened with the American flight, weirdly, is that the schedule got pushed back 20 minutes - big deal. The real issue was with United; they'd cancelled something in our set, and had then rescheduled us on a 2-stop back, which was Not Acceptable. I can't fault Expedia at all; my Expedia agent spent well over 20 minutes on hold with United, cutting back to me every 5 minutes or so to let me know she was still on hold. She ended up getting us a more reasonable 1-stop. So, all's well in the end.

But jeepers! You end up paying for getting your airline tickets early by having the dratted things rescheduled and/or cancelled, and having to go through (effectively) getting new tickets, sometimes more than once for a particular trip! Argh.

yeah - making reservations way in advance sometimes leads to annoyance. Delta, which we use a lot, also tends to muck VERY SLIGHTLY with their schedules, so we sometimes get alarmingly titled emails from them about reservations. Then, generally, the times have merely changed by five minutes or so!
