Tom Armitage has an interesting blogpost about gaming (mostly videogames, though at least some of his arguments could apply to other types of games as well) and how the generalized skills learned from them - communication, data-crunching, personnel management - could prove useful in running the real world. Date: 2009-01-01 02:02 am (UTC)Think about it: A game designer has to explain complicated and unambiguous procedures to volunteers, who can just give up, pitch the rulebook, and walk away whenever they want to. Clarity, brevity, and elegance are all advantageous.
Um... I meant paper-and-pencil games, of course, not video games.
