Whadya mean, I have to take time off???

amethyst73I just opened an email from my department. In light of the fiscal crisis, we are being required to use ALL of the vacation time that we accrue in a fiscal year during that year. That's 20 days in my case.
I'm supposed to be incredibly productive this year, getting a ton of stuff done by September. Now you're telling me that I have fewer days to do that in than I thought I did???!??
In fairness, I suppose I should be grateful that the fiscal year is September 1-Aug 31, and that I've already used something like a quarter of my annual vacation in the winter closure. And we've been told that there are three days that the School of Medicine is shutting down, period, and that we're expected to take vacation days for those. But still... that's like a week and a half more vacation than I was really expecting to take between now and August 31 this year.
