Oh, what an excellent episode.

In the spirit of attempting to keep things spoiler-free, I will merely say: I'm sorry that the character who ended up dead is dead, because they were really kind of cool.  On the other hand, the person who killed that character is extremely interesting and vastly entertaining, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.

Oh, you'll see a lot more of him, in all senses of the word. :)

My favorite (spoiler-free, despite being several years post this episode) bit with S. is this 30-second scene from Angel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBnfpZ6iBfQ&feature=related

It's odd, in that clip he reminds me a) of Nathan Fillion, and b) of the character they wrote for Marsters on Torchwood, some 6 or 7 years later. (Where he had the most awesome fight scene ever.)

Woo, he sticks around for a long time! *happiness*

Don't have time to watch the clip right now, but looking forward to it. :)

Yes. You'll have to take some bad and some extremely disturbing with the good, but yes.

Oh, now, see, when it starts getting to the point when Buffy's regularly bad, we'll probably quit watching.

OOC, when does that start happening, in your opinion?

Many's the time in church when I've wanted to call out "From now on, we're gonna have a little less ritual, and a little more fun around here."

Have you not watched Buffy S2 before? It's fantastic--enjoy!

Nope! We don't watch network TV, so obviously missed it when it was first aired. Some friends of ours insisted, "You must watch Buffy!" and lent us Season 1, which was... okay. We've been told by many many MANY people that Seasons 2 and 3 are where it's at, and we're enjoying catching episodes of Season 2 while it's on hulu. (We'll not be able to watch all of it before it gets replaced by Season 3 come April, at which point we'll ask to borrow DVDs from someone or other.)

Buffy's what sold me on Netflix. Didn't start watching it until, oh, '03? Having the nice Netflix people mail me the DVDs came in handy. (I watched Firefly after it was cancelled but before the movie, and that's what turned me into a big ol' Joss Whedon fanboy.)

Just wait until you meet the mayor of Sunnydale. You'll like the mayor.

I look forward to it!

I enjoyed finding out that someone is Not Quite As Dumb As They Look, too.

We have Season 2 on DVD. Once it becomes relevant, you can borrow it from us.

We own S2 on DVD (and maybe S3 too, I'm not sure). It's a bit far for a DVD lend, but if you can't find anyone local I'm sure we'd be willing.

Edit: Ha ha, CP's post came up simultaneously with mine. I'm sure his shipping rates will be far better.

The one, the only! He was, most of the time, my favorite thing about Buffy. My previous laptop is named after him (but by a nickname he picked up in Season 4).

I started watching out of order, and so I did _not_ have this experience you just had. I remember being pleased when I got to "School Hard," but it's neat to hear your response. I am inspired to write a poll about "who's your favorite Joss Whedon character ever ever? Why does he or she work for YOU?"

Unh. I'd have a hard time answering that. (Partially because it's clear that I haven't met all of them.)
