Clindamycin is well known for inducing Clostridium difficile infections

Guess what one of my antibiotics is?  Guess what lovely new symptom I've developed?

(My doctor, by the way, is not particularly concerned about the red swelling.  He *was* concerned about the antibiotics: the clindamycin for the reason stated above, and the sulfa because according to a handy little book, cat bite infections tend to be resistant to it.  I have been given instructions to switch to doxycyclene.  If my, um, current symptoms persist through the night, the doctor is getting a call in the morning to say "Guess what?")

Yogurt and GatorAde consumption commencing... sigh....

On another note, Huz has downloaded Assassin's Creed 2.  It's very pretty.

I recommend acidophilus capsules (sold at health food stores), too... I had to be on antibiotics a LOT this past year, and since I've sometimes had stomach/gut trouble with them, this time around I tried taking the dophilus-- and I didn't have any stomach trouble at any point. Obviously causation is impossible to determine in such a case, but I think it makes a good supplement to yogurt.

Sorry I keep doling out medical advice to you lately, I'll shut up now. Feel better soon!

*except I forgot the main point being: if you're already having stomach trouble, they may be easier on your system than dairy-heavy yogurt.

*nods* Hopefully this isn't anything more than semistandard diarrhea caused by a lot of antibiotics.

And thanks for the advice. I do appreciate it!

Oh, and while discussing this: When did you take the acidolphus? With the antibiotic? Couple of hours later?

I took it at a staggered time, on the theory that if I took it with the antibiotic the antibiotic might just kill off the acidophilus too... I have no idea if that was the right decision, though.
