The last time I sewed something was several years back - like, at least 5 years ago.  The Internet definitely existed, but YouTube wasn't such a big thing then as it is now.  I remember looking up sewing terms like stays, ease stitching, and overstitching, and getting text descriptions of varying usefulness.

Today I bought a pattern for a real honest-to-god shirt that I plan to make and wear as, you know, a shirt rather than a costume.  (I hope I didn't get the wrong size - I have a feeling the finished product is going to be just a bit big.)  I was looking over the directions earlier this evening, and it's got stays and ease stitching (yeah, I know - I must be an idiot to try something with real sleeves).  What do I find when I look up directions on various stitching techniques?

In addition to the text, videos.  Lots and lots of instructional videos.  Which is great for something like this.  Text is fine and good, but sometimes it's tremendously helpful to be able to watch someone explain and do something before trying it oneself.

Gawd, I love the internet!
