So, we just bought a copy of Paper Mario: 1000-Year Door used (-10% discount - probably about the last use of our GameStop membership) - not that we're likely to get to it for a while.  Wii owners, riddle me this: Do we need to go find a GameCube memory card to play/save GameCube games?

So riddle me this as well, since I think you've played some of these: is it reasonable to play 1000-Year-Door without having played the original Paper Mario or Mario RPG? (It certainly looks from the earliest bit like 1K-Door works perfectly well as a standalone.)

Sorry, I couldn't say. I never actually owned a GameCube, and the only thing I went out and deliberately bought after getting my Wii was Monkeyball.
