No, not really politics at work.  No juicy gossip about my coworkers to pass along.  Instead, a brief bit of annoyance about politics and my local work neighborhood:

Obama is visiting the headquarters of Facebook this Wednesday.  Normally, I would be all, "Oh, the President is in town!  Keen!"  Don't get me wrong - I like Obama, and I'm tickled in the abstract that he'll be in town.

Thing is, my workplace is in the building right next to Facebook.  There are posters up all over the place warning about extra traffic, extra security, extra everything that goes along with a presidential visit.  Having been in college on campus when Bill Clinton came to visit (and being asked via gesture to close the dorm room windows by a reasonably friendly sniper on the adjacent roof at the time), I can begin to imagine the chaos that's likely to ensue Wednesday morning on our street and right next door.

I'd take the train in, but I have choir rehearsal that evening and really need a car.  I guess I'll be glad for the secure under-building parking garage.  (I hope we'll be allowed to use it!)  I'll report on what, if anything, actually happens in terms of disruption.
