Apple has the trailer for Prince Caspian up; just saw it for the first time.

Looks neat... but WTH is someone who looks rather strikingly like the White Witch doing there???!?

Looks like just an image in a mirror - maybe a memory of some sort? Alternatively could just be a nymph. But my guess is that it's referring to the totally freaky scene where some of Caspian's "supporters" are trying to resurrect the WW. Makes sense to dramatize that by having Our Heroes actively stop them (in the book I think it happens before they meet up with Caspian.)

In the book, Nickabrik and his chums say at council that they want to raise the White Witch, the council immediately dissolves into violence, and Peter, Edmund, and Trumpkin rush in to save the day. No magic is actually done.

And, yes, I suspect that the movie is going to punch that up--the ritual will start, we'll see some fancy CGI, quite possibly the Witch will actually come back in some capacity and have to be defeated in a showy fight that (wild guess here) would just happen to make a cool video game.

To be fair, much of PC consists of: (a) talking, (b) expos, (c) talking about expos, and (d) Lucy seeing a lion that other people can't. It's a really neat book, but it'll be hard to film. I don't altogether blame them for finding opportunities to stick in some more shiny things.

(I do like the river god.)

Yeah, I remembered that scene a little while later. And yes, I can totally understand the need to stick in some shiny stuff, 'cuz you're right in the basic analysis.

Now, Voyage of the Dawn Treader is *full* of Stuff To Film - full enough that I kind of imagine they're going to have to cut some of the episodes. I imagine that two things that will definitely get kept are the island of the Dufflepuds (invisible hopper things, not certain I've got the name right) and Dragon Island, mostly because they're both fairly involved story arcs. But there's at least a few things that are only a page or three (e.g. Deathwater Island) that could get cut without harming the overall arc - just stick another lord at the table at the world's end.
